Who we are

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community museum that is 100% volunteer driven. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please send us an email at sanfordhistorymuseum@gmail.com

Our collection is housed in a building that originally served as the Sanford Town Hall. It was built in 1936 as a Works Project Administration (WPA) project. Over the years, the building has served many purposes. In partnership with the Town of Sanford, we consider the building itself to be a local treasure, along with the many artifacts in our collection.

The Sanford History Museum was founded in 1995 by a small group of residents dedicated to preserving the proud history of our part of Southern Colorado. Our original founders were Mary June Miller, Gary Bailey, and Madge Perko. As volunteers and board members, we are proud to follow in their footsteps.
